Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between early maladaptive schemas of mothers with parenting styles and externalizing symptoms of their children. Method: This study utilized a descriptive correlational design. Statistical population of this study was included of all male students of 6th grade elementary schools of District 3 of Karaj city with the quantity of 1080, through a purposive, 150 students were selected. Mothers of these students answered to the Young Schemas Questionnaire (1998) and Alabama Parenting Questionnaire (1996) and their teachers answered to the Rutter Teacher Questionnaire (1967). Data were studied through correlation and multiple regression techniques. Results: There is a significant relationship between parent’s maladaptive schemas and parenting styles and other-oriented is a negative predictor for corporal punishment and overvigilance and inhibition are predictor of inconsistent discipline. There is a significant relationship between parenting styles and externalizing disorders and poor monitoring is a predictor for social maladjustment in children and poor monitoring and parent involvement are predictor of aggression and hyperactivity in children. Conclusion: Early maladaptive schemas are effective in the formation specific parenting styles and finally externalizing disorders in children. Parent could be targeted in treatment of externalizing disorder in children
