Aim: This study was conducted with the purpose to the prediction of drug use tendency based on the psychological space of the family, the family history of addiction and the role of the peer group in the tobacco-consuming adolescents. Method: The research method was descriptive and correlational type and the statistical population of the study was all male and female adolescents (13-19 years old) with the quantity 839057 in the second half of 2016 which using cluster random sampling, 150 people from gardens of 22 areas of Tehran were selected. The data were collected using addiction susceptibility questionnaire- adolescent’s version by Zeinali, Vahdat & Hamedaniyah (2007); affective family climate scale Hillburn by 1964; adolescent affiliation with deviant peers scale by Paschal, Ringwalt & Flewelling by (2003); and a researcher-made tool for collecting family history of addiction. After removing 3 participants, data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling. Results: The results showed that the indirect pathway coefficient of the family psychological space and drug use tendency were negative and significant with the peer group mediation (β=-0.164, P=0.002) and the indirect path coefficient of the family history of addiction and relatives and tendency to drug use by peer group mediation were positive and significant (β=0.153, P=0.002). Conclusion: The results indicate the need for prevention of tobacco use by adolescents. It also emphasizes the importance of the role of the family in terms of creating a desirable psychological atmosphere and role play, as an appropriate model, and on the role of peer and friends' groups in the behavior. It is therefore suggested that parents, by providing psychological and emotional atmosphere, protect their children from the effects of peers.
