Abstract

Aim: The present study was conducted with the aim of developing a structural model for predicting depression based on childhood trauma and Feelings of loneliness with the mediating role of sluggish cognitive tempo in secondary school girls of Ilam city. Method: The current descriptive-correlation research is of the structural equation modeling type, the statistical population of the research included all female students of the second year of high school in Ilam city in the academic year of 1402-1403(4812 people). The sample of the research is 357 people, and multistage cluster sampling method. The main data collection tools were Beck Depression Questionnaire(1966), Bernstein et al.'s Childhood Trauma Questionnaire(2003), Usher and Wheeler's Feelings of loneliness Questionnaire (1985) and Barkley's sluggish cognitive tempo Questionnaire (2011). For data analysis, structural equation modeling method was used with the help of AMOS and SPSS software. Findings: The structural model of predicting depression based on childhood trauma and Feelings of loneliness with the mediating role of Sluggish cognitive tempo in second secondary female students of Ilam city has a favorable fit. Conclusion: It is concluded that if childhood trauma and loneliness in students are accompanied by sluggish cognitive tempo, depression will increase as a result. In other words, when sluggish cognitive tempo in students who have experienced childhood trauma and have high feelings of loneliness can predict depression in them.
