Abstract

Aim: The present study aimed to develop a peace model of suicidal tendencies based on the initial incompatible schemas, with the mediating role of problem-solving styles in adolescents in Ilam city.

Method: The research utilized a descriptive-correlation method employing a structural equation model. The statistical population comprised all teenagers (aged 13 to 18) in Ilam city during the first six months of 1401, totaling 14,384 individuals. A sample size of 374 people was determined using Cochran's formula and selected through stratified random sampling (by gender) and multi-stage sampling. Measurement tools included Beck's Suicidal Thoughts Questionnaire (1999), Young and Brown's Standard Schema Questionnaire (2001), and Hepner and Petersen's Problem Solving Styles (1987). Data analysis involved structural equation modeling and path analysis using SPSS and AMOS software.

Results: The findings revealed that primary maladaptive schemas significantly influenced suicidal tendencies in adolescents in Ilam city, both directly and through the mediating role of problem-solving styles.

Conclusion: Problem-solving style skills were identified as playing a crucial role in the impact of early maladaptive schemas on adolescents' suicidal tendencies.
