The aim of the present study was to investigate mediating role of self-efficacy in relationship cognitive emotion regulation and psychological well-being of patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Method: The present study was descriptive-correlational using structural equation modeling. The statistical population was patients with irritable bowel syndrome who referred to Gastrointestinal Health Center, Alzahra Hospital in Isfahan city in year 2023. The sample size was selected based on Kline model (2023) and with convenience sampling of 300 patients. Using psychological well-being scale of Ryff (1989), general self‐efficacy Scale (GES-10) of Jerusalem and Schwarzer (1995), cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire of Garnefski and et al (2001) data was collected. Using SPSS version 28 and AMOS software data were analyzed. Results: The results indicated that emotion regulation strategies and self-efficacy predict psychological well-being and self-efficacy has a mediating role in the relationship between cognitive emotion regulation strategies and psychological well-being. Conclusion: The findings of this research have practical implications for therapeutic interventions focusing on cognitive regulation of emotion and self-efficacy to improve the psychological well-being of patients with irritable bowel syndrome.
