[English]

Aim: The present study aims to present an integrated and coherent model to investigate the mediating role of locus of control and the moderating effect of self-esteem.

Method: The present study is in the category of correlational-descriptive research. Among the population of employees of private organizations in Saveh who were working in 1402, 263 people (154 women and 109 men) participated in the present study voluntarily using the convenience sampling method and completed the Early Maladaptive Schema Questionnaire (Young et al., 1994), the Locus of Control Questionnaire (Julian Rutter, 1996), the Self-Esteem Questionnaire (Rosenberg, 1965) and the Workaholism Questionnaire (Spence and Robbins, 1992) in pencil-paper form. The collected data were analyzed using the Macro Process extension in SPSS software version 26.

Results: The results of the analyses show that in addition to the significant relationship between early maladaptive schemas and workaholism (β =. 39، p <.001), the locus of control variable as a mediator (β =. 20، p <.05) and the self-esteem variable as a moderator variable (β =. 12، p <.05) play a significant role in this relationship.

Conclusion: These findings emphasize the importance of integrating the dynamic psychophysiological structure, including locus of control and self-esteem, along with early maladaptive schemas in the development of therapeutic and preventive programs and interventions in the field of workaholism.
