English

Aim: The study examined adolescents’ psychological well-being in relation to moral identity and hope, with meaning in life as a mediator, within positive psychology.
Method: This applied study used a descriptive-correlational design and structural equation modeling. A multistage cluster sample of 384 upper secondary students in Arak (2025–2026) completed the Snyder Hope, Aquino and Reed Moral Identity, Warwick–Edinburgh Mental Well-Being, and Steger and Frazier Meaning in Life scales. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, SPSS-27, and AMOS-26
Results: All study variables were positively and significantly correlated with psychological well-being (p < 0.01). In the structural model, presence of meaning directly predicted psychological well-being (β = 0.39, p < 0.001). Presence of meaning also significantly mediated the relationships between hope, moral identity, and psychological well-being. The model explained 46% of the variance in presence of meaning and 57% of the variance in psychological well-being and showed good fit (RMSEA = 0.043, CFI = 0.96).
Conclusion: Within positive psychology, hope and moral identity support adolescents’ psychological well-being directly and indirectly through meaning in life. School-based interventions should promote hope, moral development, and meaning-centered practices to enhance well-being.
